Iron Curtain - Bike tours along the Czech western and southern border
All 6 packages in the Czech Republic along the 866 km long Iron Curtain trail – EuroVelo 13 along the Czech – Bavarian – Austrian border are planned as self-guided tours. Bicycle rental can be easily organized in starting/ending points. The self-guided tours are supported by international signposting of EuroVelo 13 along the entire length of the route in the Czech Republic and by maps and printed guides that are part of the package. Accommodation is arranged in the certified cycle friendly guest-houses and hotels. On request may the tour continue along the Czech border further up to Vienna (Karlovy Vary - Plzen - Sumava Mountains - Cesky Krumlov - Slavonice - Znojmo - Mikulov - Breclav - Vienna).
Arrival to Mariánské Lázně/Marienbad and visit of the second largest spa in the Czech Republic (after Carlsbad/Karlovy Vary) - Collonade with its famous Singing fountain, spa parks and splendid architecture. Overnight in cycle friendly hotel in Mariánské Lázně.
Train trip Mariánské Lázně – Cheb and Františkovy Lázně, visit of Františkovy Lázně/Franzensbad with charming colonnade and spa park, cycle to medieval Cheb, optional swimming in water reservoir Skalka, visiting Cheb – historic town center with castle and complex of 11 houses from 13th century at the place where there were originally shop keeping booths, garden and sport complex at Ohře/Eger river, cycle along the trail Cheb – Slapany - Waldsassen to Svaty Kriz – ICT monument (5 km), cycle on Bavarian side to Neualbenreuth – spa Sibyllenbad (15 km) and further to Mariánské Lázně (25 km). Overnight in cycle friendly hotel in Mariánské Lázně.
Cycle trip from Mariánské Lázně to Chodová Planá (25 km), optional individual visit of the Chodovar Brewery in Chodová Planá carved in rock, return by train to Mariánské Lázně. Departure from Mariánské Lázně to Prague.
Difficulty level for this tour is LEVEL 3-moderate. Its not strenuous but has hills and require some efforts. Elevation from 190 m to 620 m.
