The Prague – Lednice – Vienna cycling route follows the historic Greenways trails through the Czech countryside and the wine regions of South Moravia before reaching the Austrian capital.

This route is one of the most diverse cycling journeys in Central Europe. Unlike the mostly flat Elbe River route, the Greenways ride offers a varied landscape of rolling hills, forests, lakes, and historic towns, creating a true countryside adventure.
Leaving Prague, the route gradually leads you into the peaceful landscapes of southern Bohemia and Moravia. Along the way you discover medieval towns, Renaissance squares, quiet villages, and centuries-old castles.

Highlights of the journey include:

• Tábor, historic Hussite town with medieval streets
• Telč, UNESCO-listed Renaissance town with one of Europe’s most beautiful squares
• Slavonice, a hidden architectural gem near the Austrian border
• Mikulov, a charming wine town surrounded by vineyards and limestone hills
• Lednice Chateau, part of the UNESCO-listed Lednice–Valtice cultural landscape

The journey can finish in Lednice, with convenient train connections to Prague or Vienna, or continue across the border to Vienna, one of Europe’s great imperial capitals.

Daily distances can be adjusted depending on the number of days you choose (typically 6–10 cycling days).

The best season for this ride is April – October, when the countryside is green and the vineyards of South Moravia are at their most beautiful.
